Dr. Candice Waltrip
Dr. Candice Waltrip earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California, Riverside, her master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from American International College in Massachusetts, and her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology with emphases in Psychodynamic Systems and Family Forensic Psychology from Azusa Pacific University in Southern California. She is a licensed psychologist in Utah and her passion rests in bolstering community safety. She is dedicated to exceptional service delivery to meet the needs of her clients. Her clinical experience throughout graduate school centered around justice-involved individuals managing general mental health, sexual offenses, substance use and struggles with the child welfare system. Her predoctoral internship was at a juvenile detention center in rural Wisconsin where she primarily spearheaded advancements in the approach to treatment and evaluation of juveniles who sexually harm. Her postdoctoral fellowship was at the Utah State Hospital in Provo where she was assigned to a civil unit serving clients with severe and persistent mental illness. She met Dr. Partridge during her time at the State Hospital and after her postdoctoral year, she moved to the Forensic units to facilitate competence to stand trial evaluations. After a few years she moved to the Utah State Prison to work with adults who have sexually offended. She was instrumental in progressing that treatment program forward through reducing recidivism rates and increasing community safety. She also spearheaded the creation of the Sex Offense Management Advisory Committee under the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice. She is excited to have the opportunity to more directly help public safety personnel with their mental wellness as she has close ties to first responders given her experience in the field. Dr. Waltrip’s mental wellness involves working out, running half marathons, and pottery. She enjoys quality time with her family and tries to travel to new places as often as possible.
